Evergreen climbs from 1970s ranch homes into the 1990s–2000s subdivisions of the East San Jose foothills, from Evergreen and Aborn out to Silver Creek Valley and Montgomery Hill. Those newer houses have reached the age where kitchens and primary baths are ready for a rework, and the hillside lots add a wrinkle of their own: parcels near the Evergreen foothills can need grading or geologic review before an addition goes in.
