How much does a remodel cost in San Jose?
Every project is different, but most San Jose kitchen remodels start around $30,000 and bathrooms around $15,000, depending on size, materials, and scope. We give you a free, detailed estimate up front so there are no surprises. See our cost guide for planning ranges.
What has the biggest impact on remodel cost?
Keeping plumbing, gas, electrical, and walls in their existing locations is the single biggest way to control cost — moving them is what drives budgets up. We steer clients toward investing in the things that are hard to change later (waterproofing, cabinetry, flooring) and tiering the finishes that are easy to swap, so you get durability where it counts and flexibility where it doesn't.
How long does a remodel take?
It depends on scope, but a typical bathroom takes about 2–4 weeks, a kitchen 4–8 weeks, and a whole-home remodel a few months. We give you a realistic timeline up front and keep you updated the whole way.
Do you handle permits and design?
Yes. We coordinate design, pull permits, and manage every trade, so you have one experienced team and one point of contact from the first drawing to the final walkthrough.
How do I get started?
Just reach out for a free, no-pressure estimate. Call or text (408) 667-4946 or fill out our contact form, and we'll get back to you within one business day.
What information do you need from me to prepare a proposal?
The more we know up front, the faster and more accurate your estimate. It helps to know which spaces are in scope (which bathrooms, the kitchen, any flooring), whether you want to keep the existing layout or move plumbing and walls, your target finish level (standard, premium, or luxury), and a rough budget range. Any plans, inspiration photos, or fixtures you've already chosen are a bonus — but don't worry if you don't have it all yet; we'll help you fill in the gaps.
Can we start planning before I move to the area?
Absolutely. Design and selections can happen early and remotely, and we can handle permitting before you arrive — so construction can begin right when you're ready instead of months later. Starting early is a real advantage, especially if the home is vacant before move-in.
How soon can I get an estimate after reaching out?
Once we've talked through your scope and selections, we can usually turn around a preliminary proposal in about one to two weeks, and a detailed, fixed-price estimate within roughly two to four weeks after your selections are finalized.
What areas do you serve?
San Jose and the South Bay, including Willow Glen, Almaden, Campbell, Los Gatos, Sunnyvale, and the surrounding communities.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We're fully licensed (CSLB #1050108) and insured, and we pull all required permits and follow local building codes — so your project is done by the book.
Do I need a permit, and what are Title 24 and SB 407?
If your remodel involves electrical, plumbing, structural, or layout changes, a permit is required; purely cosmetic updates usually aren't. We handle the entire San Jose permit process for you. Two California rules commonly apply: Title 24 (the energy code — efficient lighting and ventilation) and SB 407 (updating older water fixtures throughout the home to low-flow standards). We build both into your plan from the start so they're never a surprise. See our permit guide for details.
Can I build an ADU on my San Jose property?
In most cases, yes — San Jose has some of the most ADU-friendly rules in California. Whether a detached ADU, a garage conversion, or a junior ADU (JADU) fits best depends on your lot, budget, and goals. We design, permit, and build all three. See our ADUs & additions page to learn more.
How do I choose the right remodeling contractor?
Look for a licensed and insured contractor (you can verify the license at the CSLB), real local references and reviews, a clear written scope, and a fixed-price contract rather than open-ended billing. Ask who you'll actually work with day to day. With us, that's the owners and one experienced team — start to finish.
