California requires a contractor license when work needs a building permit, uses employee labor, or totals $1,000 or more including labor and materials. You can check a contractor's license and bond on the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) website before hiring. See CSLB's licensing guidance.

Our license and insurance

Silicon Valley Building Service and Repair has held CSLB License #1050108 in its own name since 2019. CSLB lists the contractor bond and workers' compensation coverage associated with that license. We also hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. General liability coverage has its own certificate: ask us for the current document and check the details before signing.

Insurance carriers, policy numbers, limits, and dates can change. Verify the current certificate rather than relying on an older copy of this page.

• Bond: Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), Bond #101770765, $25,000.
• General liability: request the current certificate and verify the named insured, carrier, dates, and limits.
• Workers' compensation: State Compensation Insurance Fund coverage is listed on the CSLB license record.

How to verify us yourself

Don't take any contractor's word for this, ours included. The state keeps the records, and they're public:

• Open the CSLB license lookup and search license number 1050108.
• Check that the license reads Active, that the classification fits your project, and that the bond and workers' comp are on file.
• Ask us for the current general liability certificate and local references. If you need confirmation from the insurer or broker, use the contact details on that certificate.
