Licensed, bonded, insured. Check for yourself.

Hiring a remodeler means handing a stranger the keys to your house. You shouldn't have to take our word for anything, so here's our state license, our insurance, and exactly how to verify both on your own.

California requires anyone taking on construction work of $1,000 or more to hold a license from the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). That license is earned, not bought: experience requirements, an exam, a required bond, and a state regulator to answer to. Plenty of "handymen" bid remodels without one. We wouldn't dream of it.

Our license and insurance

Silicon Valley Building Service and Repair has held CSLB License #1050108 in its own name since 2019, and behind it sit the state-required contractor's bond, general liability insurance, and workers' compensation for everyone on our crew. Each piece protects you differently: the license holds us to a state standard, the bond and liability coverage protect your property, and workers' comp means an injury on your job is our responsibility, not yours. We also hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Coverage details current as of July 2026. Policies renew annually, so ask us for a current certificate of insurance before you sign; it's a standard, no-cost request.

  • Bond: Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), Bond #101770765, $25,000.
  • General liability: Associated Industries Insurance Company (Policy #AES1206831 05), $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 general aggregate.
  • Workers' compensation: State Compensation Insurance Fund (Policy #9278317-26), covering everyone on our crew.
  • Insurance broker: Construction Specialties Insurance Services, (888) 874-3800. Call them directly to confirm our coverage is active, no need to take our word for it.

How to verify us yourself

Don't take any contractor's word for this, ours included. The state keeps the records, and they're public:

  • Open the CSLB license lookup and search license number 1050108.
  • Check that the license reads Active, that the classification fits your project, and that the bond and workers' comp are on file.
  • Then call our broker above, or ask us directly, for proof of insurance and local references. We keep both ready.

Family-owned, owner-led

We're a family company, and the owners run every job themselves. The people who walk your home on day one are the same people who hand back the keys at the end, not a rotating cast of strangers. We've built across San Jose and the South Bay since 2012, and when clients tell us why they hired us, that accountability comes up more than anything else. Meet the family on our about page.

How we protect your project

  • Fixed-price contracts: the scope and the price go in writing before demo day, not open-ended "time and materials," and no surprise change orders.
  • Permits handled: we pull City permits and manage Title 24 and SB 407 compliance, so nothing about your remodel is off the books. See our permit guide.
  • Written workmanship warranty: our workmanship is guaranteed in writing, backed by your signed contract; read the warranty.
  • One accountable team: one crew and one point of contact, from the first sketch to the final inspection.
