California requires anyone taking on construction work of $1,000 or more to hold a license from the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). A license isn't just a formality — it means the contractor has met experience and exam requirements, carries the required bond, and answers to a state regulator. Plenty of "handymen" operate without one. We don't.

Our license & insurance

Silicon Valley Building Service & Repair holds CSLB License #1050108, and we carry the state-required contractor's bond, general liability insurance, and workers' compensation coverage for our crew. That combination protects you three ways: the license holds us to a standard, the bond and insurance protect your property, and workers' comp means you're not liable if someone is hurt on your job.

How to verify us yourself

Never take a contractor's word for it — including ours. You can confirm our license status, bond, and any history directly on the state's website:

  • Go to the CSLB license lookup and search license number 1050108.
  • Confirm the license is Active, the classification fits your project, and the bond and workers' comp are listed.
  • Ask us for proof of insurance and local references — we're glad to provide both.
